EFT is based on the following principle:
"The cause of ALL negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy
system." - Gary CRAIG
Each specific problem has a link and repercussion in our body's energy system.
EFT-Therapy re-balances this system by a simple procedure of tapping on certain points of the energy canals which are (incorrectly) referred to as meridians. 'Incorrectly' since these are not lines on a map but real canals which can get blocked or cluttered in relation to emotions triggered off by specific events.
Tapping in EFT-THerapy is done with the pads of two or three fingers, easily covering the relatively minute territory of one acupuncture point. Needles require an absolute precision.
Tapping should never hurt but should remain firm to be useful. An EFT sequence generally starts from the top and goes down. Tapping on one point can last about the length of one breath. The order is not very important; the idea is to tap them all.
Sometimes, an electromagnetic effet from the metal in glasses or watches can interfere with the process. For those who may be sensitive to that, please feel free to remove them before starting the sequence.

Before starting the sequence, we generally begin with an affirmation which affirms that we accept ourselves and the reality of the difficulty we're going through.
Why? Often a part of us wants to heal and at the same time another part, usually hidden from our awareness, does everything it can to stop us from taking that path, frightened by any possible change to the 'status quo'. That can appear surprising, but though we may be suiffering a great deal, it's 'known territory' and exploring unknown land makes certains of parts of self uneasy. It's often possible to 'un-block' this unconscious defense mechanism. This block corresponds to what modern psychology refers to as 'limiting beliefs' which tend to find 'secondary benefits' ... in keeping our problem!
We call that a 'Psychological Reversal' in EFT-Therapy and most schools of Energy Psychology. The 'energy correction' is done by affirming the acceptance while massaging the 'sore spot' ( a neurolymphatic reflex point) or tapping on the side of the hand.
The sentence often used is:
- 'Even if I have (this problem), I fully and completely accept myself.'
What's so surprising with EFT-Therapy is that we'e not requires to totally believe such a statement: the inner conflict between the parts of ourself makes this often difficult. The simple attitude of being open to the possibility of believing it starts to un-block the energy system.
